After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2012, Becky spent two years working on the Caribbean island of Montserrat where she lead various community music and education projects. Since her return to London in 2014 she has enjoyed working as an Animateur on a number of orchestral and choral outreach projects.

Current Projects

Orchestra Up Close

Becky worked with the Young Person's Concert Foundation and Camden Music service to develop and deliver this exciting new project. Designed to give 6-7 year-olds an up close and personal introduction to orchestral music, Becky and two experienced YPCF players delivered creative workshops to children across various Camden Primary Schools. These workshops were based on Saint-Seans Carnival of The Animals and the Danse Macabre. A great deal of fun was had composing songs about animals and exploring stories about skeletons! The children were then invited to an orchestral concert at The Cockpit Theatre with the YPCF, conducted and presented by Becky. They performed the songs they had written along with the orchestra and due to the intimate 'in the round' nature of the theatre, the children had a great interactive and participatory experience with the orchestral musicians! We're delighted that this project has been successful in securing funding to be repeated in 2017!

Somers Town Sinfonia

Somers Town Sinfonia (STS) is an orchestral eduction project designed for children in Years 4 & 5 who are learning an instrument as part of the Wider Opportunities programme in three Camden primary schools. Now in its second year, the project provides an opportunity for these beginner instrumentalists to commit to an after-school orchestra once a week where they develop their musical skills in an ensemble environment with Becky and other supporting musicians from Young Person's Concert Foundation and Camden music Service. The project runs for the summer term and the children benefit from the whole orchestral experience as well as smaller sectional rehearsals with specialist musicians on their instrument. They work on repertoire from different genres of music from Classical to Pop and Film music and also have the opportunity to compose their own piece of music as an ensemble. The programme culminates with a grand performance where the children are joined by professional musicians from the YPCF to celebrate their achievements with friends and family. This YPCF/Camden Music Service project has proven to be extremely successful for the last two years and has now secured funding to carry on into 2017, also expanding to another area in Camden. Westminster Cathedral Choir School Outreach

Becky works as an Animateur for the choir school's outreach department. This involves delivering singing sessions in Catholic primary schools across different London boroughs. Each school receives 8 sessions per term, enabling us to develop strong relationships and allowing for great progress to be made over the course of the year. The children benefit from two visits to the cathedral per term for workshops and concerts and work on repertoire from Gregorian Chant to Contemporary classical through to musicals about David and Goliath and Jonah and the Whale. There is an end of year extravaganza where 600 children perform together in the Cathedral. All in all, it's great fun!

Upstage Choirs & Tower Voices

These two projects are designed to get children singing in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. In Upstage Choirs, Becky works with primary schools in which there was not previously an existing choir. This project enables teachers to develop the skills to set up and run a choir, lead rehearsals and create performance opportunities. Tower Voices is whole class singing for years 4 & 5 where schools across the borough learn the same repertoire and come together to perform as large choir concerts in local secondary schools.
